我们非常重视您的隐私。此政策说明了精确在线尺子收集哪些信息、如何使用信息以及您根据GDPR、CCPA和其他隐私法规享有的权利。
Introduction
Welcome to Accurate Online Ruler ("we," "our," or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at https://accurateonlineruler.com (the "Site"). Please read this policy carefully. If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not access the Site.
We are committed to protecting your personal data and respecting your privacy. This policy is designed to be compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other applicable data protection laws.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
We collect minimal personal information from you. Specifically:
- Contact form submissions: If you use our Contact page, we collect your name, email address, and the message you submit. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry.
- Bug reports and device information: When you voluntarily report a calibration bug or device issue, we may collect your device model, browser type, screen resolution, and PPI value to help diagnose and fix the problem.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, certain information is automatically collected by our hosting infrastructure and content delivery network:
- Browser type and version
- Operating system
- Screen resolution and viewport dimensions
- Referring URL
- Date and time of access
- Aggregated, anonymised usage data (page views, feature usage)
This information is collected via server logs and aggregated analytics. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics services that identify individual users. Any analytics we perform uses anonymised, aggregated data only.
Local Storage & Your Calibration Data
All calibration data — including your PPI value, unit preference (cm/inches), dark mode setting, and device name — is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
- What is stored: PPI value, unit preference, dark mode preference, and device name.
- Where it stays: All preferences are stored locally in your browser's localStorage. They are never transmitted to our servers, stored in databases, or shared with third parties.
- How to clear it: You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data, using private/incognito mode, or removing the site's localStorage entries via your browser's developer tools.
- No camera access: The ruler tool does not request or access your device's camera. All measurements are screen-based using your display's physical pixel grid.
- No image capture: The tool does not capture, upload, or process any images from your device.
Important: Unlike camera-based online ruler tools that may process images on external servers, our accurate online ruler performs all calculations locally in your browser. No measurement data, screen content, or personal information is ever sent to external servers.
How We Use Your Information
Any information we collect is used for the following purposes:
- To operate, maintain, and improve the online ruler tool
- To respond to your comments, questions, and support requests
- To diagnose technical issues and improve device auto-detection
- To analyse aggregated usage trends and enhance user experience
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms & Conditions
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Data Retention
LocalStorage data (PPI, preferences) persists in your browser until you clear it. We have no ability to delete localStorage data remotely because it never reaches our servers.
Contact form submissions are retained for as long as necessary to address your inquiry and for a reasonable period thereafter for quality assurance purposes. If you wish to have your submission deleted, please contact us.
Server logs containing anonymised technical data are retained for no more than 30 days.
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not share your personal data with third parties except in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers: We may share anonymised, aggregated data with hosting and infrastructure providers who are contractually obligated to maintain confidentiality.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal requests by public authorities.
- Protection of rights: We may disclose information to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our users or others.
We do not use third-party advertising networks, tracking cookies, or analytics services that collect personally identifiable information.
